Overview
The UofMMedicalCenter.org website is also managed by Fairview Health Services, Inc. using the Oracle CMS platform. My duties with this site were to redesign the secondary and tertiary templates for improved aesthetic and functionality. As with the Fairview.org site, my involvement in this site was extensive- from gathering requirements from various stakeholders about functionality and design, to investigating ways to better incorporate SEO and social media. I designed the templates for this project using Adobe Creative Suite, and then coded the various template functionalites in HTML, CSS and javascript. The code I created was provided to the development team for incorporation into the CMS, and continued to work with them to test and make adjustments before the final launch was approved.
Challenge
The templates I created needed to be scalable for future content. They also needed to be manageable by marketers who may not have had a high level of technical aptitude. As a final consideration, the templates also had to use CSS in a way that prevented third parties from creating content that didn’t support or reinforce the brand.
